Sony Ericsson W595 Linda Set to Replace the W580
The Sony Ericsson W580i is one of the best looking slider phones the company has produced in the last few years and it’s looking like it’s being succeeded by this, the W595. Pictures and details leaked onto the Internet this week confirm the presence of the Walkman 3.0 software and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Here’s the rundown of everything we know about it so far:
A built-in accelerometer.
An M2 memory card slot for plenty of media storage.
A 3.2 megapixel camera.
An FM radio.
Continuing with the decidedly non-geeky codename theme shared with the Sony Ericsson W902, the W595 is also known as Linda. Its slide form looks to be an evolution of the slick W580, but perhaps slightly thinner judging by the pictures. With the Walkman 3.0 software comes Shake Control seen on other Sony Ericsson handsets allowing track advance and shuffle to be operated by a flick of the phone, however, word is the accelerometer is a ‘3D’ one as opposed to the ‘2D’ in the W580. What this means will all become clear with the official announcement.
Also visible in the leaked pictures are stereo speakers, one above the earpiece and one on the base of the handset and the return of the intricate patterns on the base of the slider panel. Included in the A2 operating system software will be Google Maps. The official announcement was expected around the end of July but we have yet to hear anything official from Sony Ericsson.
